Finishing Up the Flagged Squidoo Lenses

I just want to be done with this whole filter and editing mess, so let’s get it done today.

acceptDeliciously Fun Halloween Gift Baskets

Very product focused, but lots of text. Going to start by removing sidebar Amazon modules and hit publish – low quality error.

Adding About Me module and hitting publish – low quality error.

Removing featured lenses module and hitting publish – low quality error.

Maybe I just need a better introduction? Scrapping the intro and writing a new longer one. Hitting publish – low quality error.

Let’s add a poll module with an image. Hitting publish – green light! Whew, I was running out of ideas.

deleteHalloween Popcorn Tins and Gifts
This lens is a pain in the booty. The products are always changing every year so after the season passes all the modules and links get broken. I’m sure that’s a factor in the flagging. I sort of wish there was a “pause button” for seasonal items. I figured I can always recreate something new to replace this in the fall, for now I’m just deleting this lens.

acceptPet Halloween Costumes & Safety
Lots of content here, plus tips and safety mentions. I like this lens and I’d like to save it, but I’m not going to agonize over it.

Deleted Amazon modules from sidebar and hit publish – green light, yay!

acceptAmazing Hostess Gifts
This lens gets sales all year long and has commissions pending for this month, so it needs fixed for sure.

Removed the featured lenses module and hit publish – low quality error.

Added About Me module and hit publish – low quality error.

Added text to the Amazon modules in the sidebar and hit publish – low quality error.

Removed the first sidebar Amazon module and hit publish – low quality error.

Removed the second sidebar Amazon module and hit publish – low quality error.

Removed the third sidebar Amazon module and hit publish – green light success!

acceptThe Adventures of Tin Tin Halloween Costumes
This lens was just made in the fall, but Squidoo has changed their layouts and formats since then so it did look a little wonky when I opened it today. Despite the wonky layout, this lens usually has a sale or two per month even though it’s not “in season” right now. There are pending commissions, so this definitely needs fixing.

Removed Amazon widgets from sidebar. Hit publish – low quality error.

Consolidate two Amazon Spotlight modules into one regular Amazon module and hit publish – low quality error.

Consolidate three Spotlights into single Amazon module and hit publish – low quality error.

Moving final Spotlight into the Amazon module and hit publish – low quality error.

Adding an About Me module and hitting publish – green light and ready to go!

acceptiPad 3 versus Other Tablets
I worked really stinking hard on this lens and it’s only ever made one sale. Let’s try to fix it up…

Removing eBay module from the bottom of the page and removing sidebar Amazon modules. Hitting publish – low quality error.

Editing title sections in the text modules to use the word “tablet” less often and hitting publish – low quality error.

Adding customized About Me module at the end of the page. Hitting publish – low quality error.

Hmm… removed a few more instances of the word “tablet” even though it was used in a completely natural way. Hitting publish – low quality error.

Removed a featured link that was hard coded (linked to another lens but didn’t use the Featured Lens widget) Hit publish – low quality error.

Consolidating text and Amazon modules into less modules, more text and no more than 3 products per module. Hitting publish – low quality error.

Honestly, I think it was better before I started making changes. So F’ing F you again darn filter.

Removing an Amazon Spotlight module even though it makes perfectly good sense where it is. Hitting publish – green light.
(about freaking time!)

deleteSalt and Pepper Shakers to Match Your Spring Decor
This was definitely a keyword/product focused page. It made a few sales last spring, but nothing really great or huge. It was just sort of a fun thing to put together and I’m in no mood to stress over this one. It’s get two tries max…

Removing eBay modules and Amazon sidebar modules. Hitting publish – low quality error.

Adding About Me Module and hitting publish – low quality error.

I went ahead and deleted this lens. It wasn’t that important of a topic and it didn’t rank high enough for me to worry about. If I remember correctly, I was really just wanted to test out using more eBay modules and I wasn’t all that pleased with the results of that in this case.

deleteCute Baby Halloween Costume Ideas
This lens was mostly products and photos, not a lot of text. I decided it would be easier to start over with this topic in the fall, so I deleted the lens without trying to fix it up.

deleteOrganizing from the Inside Out for Teenagers
This was a book lens about helping teenagers get organized and find their inner self – I can take my book reviews elsewhere on the web and this lens didn’t get a lot of traffic, so I just deleted the page and didn’t mess with it.

Only 7 flags left to work on – Almost done!

acceptFree Christmas Ornament Cross Stitch Patterns from Stitching the Night Away
This lens was to promote my free cross stitch patterns, obviously. This lens is a lot of photos and not a lot of text… because that’s what people want to see when they’re looking for free cross stitch patterns. They’re not interested in the words on the page, they’re interested in what you’re going to give them for free and that is best communicated with an image.

Removing the Amazon sidebar modules and hitting publish – low quality error.

Adding About Me module at the bottom of the page and hitting publish – low quality error.

Removing Featured Lenses widget and hitting publish – low quality error.

Removing a module that had an expired promotion in it (oops, should have done that first) and hitting publish – green light.
(which is good because that was my last attempt, I was ready to delete this one if it wouldn’t go through)

acceptSnowman Cross Stitch Patterns
Not one of my best performers, but it does have pending commissions so I’d like to fix it if I can.

Removing sidebar Amazon modules and hitting publish – low quality error.
I didn’t think it would be that easy on this one.

Let’s consolidate some of these product mentions and maybe remove a few outdated selections. Way less products on the page now, so hitting publish – low quality error.

Okay, let’s make it even less products, add an About Me module, and hit publish again – low quality error.

Removing an Amazon module and hit publish – low quality error.

Rewriting titles and hitting publish – low quality error.

Adding a video module and hitting publish – low quality error.

This is not working and I am not happy with the page at this point.

Adding a poll module – green light.
(I will be back to edit this page again later, because I don’t like the way it looks after all that editing)

acceptFreezer Cookbooks
This is a fairly new lens, I made it just before things starting getting all topsy turvy. It was actually part of a food themed lens creation quest. I do like this topic so I’d like to try to improve the lens and get it green lighted again.

Removing the Amazon sidebar modules and hitting publish – green light magic! Yay 🙂

acceptKindle Vs. Nook: Which eBook Reader Should You Choose?
Hmm… this is an older lens that I started way back when the holiday gift guide was active. Let’s see what I can do here.

Deleted an expired promotion and removed Amazon sidebar modules. Hit publish – green light!
(two in a row, I’m on a roll here :))

Only three flagged lenses to go now!

acceptMicrosoft Surface Tablet PC
This is also a fairly new lens, but it has had some decent traffic so let’s tweak and see what happens.

It has lots of content on it already, so let’s start with removing the Amazon modules in the sidebar. Hit publish – green light!

acceptGluten Free Holiday Gifts
This lens isn’t that old, but it is definitely product focused. Let’s start tweaking and see if we can bring it up to par.

Removing Amazon modules from sidebar and hitting publish – green light, all set!

Last flag to fix!

acceptHalloween Barbie Dolls
I saved this one for last intentionally. It’s an older lens and it’s a bit sloppy, so I think it’s going to need a bit of work. It does make a decent number of sales in the fall, so I do want to fix it up. Let’s get started.

Removing Amazon modules from the sidebar and hitting publish – low quality error.
I didn’t expect that to be all I needed, but it was worth a try.

Adding an About Me module and hitting publish – low quality error.

Let’s start consolidating the products. Removed five Amazon Spotlights and hit publish – low quality error.

Removed five more Amazon Spotlights (I was maxed out on Amazon modules here) and hit publish – low quality error.

Consolidating the remaining five Spotlights and their text into one regular Amazon module and hitting publish – green light means go!
That wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be 🙂

All done!!!!
